Dyslexia HomeWelcome to Dyslexia Queensland

Is your child struggling to keep up with the academic demands of the classroom? Does he appear bright and very capable with some aspects of life but have difficulty learning to read, write or spell correctly? Perhaps he also gets very confused when working with numbers. These are just two possible areas of learning that may suggest he could be dyslexic.

The symptoms or characteristics of dyslexia are many and varied. Your child’s symptoms may not even be consistent from one day to the next. Each person is unique, so the characteristics of dyslexia vary from person to person and in different degrees of severity.

Has your child’s teacher brought the learning difficulties to your attention or complained about his behaviour that may be the result of the frustrations he is experiencing at school?

Take heart in the fact that something can be done to correct or control the dyslexic symptoms as required. Don’t wait until the high school or university years to do something about this for your child. Act now for him to receive a Davis Dyslexia Correction® Program from a licensed Davis Facilitator here in Hervey Bay, Queensland.

Contact me to discuss a Davis Program to suit your child’s learning needs.

Who Can Correct Dyslexia?• Only people with dyslexia correction qualifications. It is preferable that they also have postgraduate education in special needs education and extensive experience in correction and control of dyslexic symptoms. Find out about My qualifications.

• Be cautious of special needs teachers trying to earn a bit of extra money on the side who have no qualifications in dyslexia correction.

Symptoms• Please visit our checklist for parents and educators to determine if a student has symptoms of dyslexia.
Areas include
• Memory and Cognition,
• Writing and Motor Skills,
• Behaviour, Health, Development and Personality,
• Vision, Reading and Spelling,
• Hearing and Speech,
• Mathematics and Time Management,
• General.

Screening For Dyslexia • If you suspect that you or your loved one has dyslexia, you can use the checklist provided (Thirty Seven Characteristics of Dyslexia) to reassure yourself one way or the other.  Not every person has all the characteristics though, and each person will have a slightly different set of characteristics.  Mark off the characteristics that pertain to you and send me your list and we can discuss your situation.

• There is no need to spend hundreds of dollars on an assessment just to have your suspicions confirmed.  The given List of Characteristics will suffice.  Besides, the money spent diagnosing the problem offers you nothing in return to help you “correct” the situation.

• Rest assured that this program will address the cause of the problem and provide you with a set of “tools” to use in everyday life to help you achieve your goals.

• Be cautious of people offering tuition that reinforces the symptoms of dyslexia, thus offering no long-term benefit.
